Sheet pan dinners are exactly what they sound like. Complete meals that are cooked in one pan in the oven. They’re quick, delicious, and really easy to clean up. I’m a bit picky about my recipes because I don’t like ones that have white potatoes in them, they never seem to taste quite right to me. Here are my top six sheet pan dinners that are faster than takeout.
1. Rosemary Balsamic Sheet Pan Chicken with Bacon and Apples – Wholesomelicious
This one is a family favourite. The balsamic marinade is amazing on the chicken and drizzled over the veggies before cooking. Plus, who doesn’t love bacon? This one gets made once every 3-4 weeks around here.
2. Sheet Pan Steak Fajitas – Kirbie’s Cravings
Yum. I love fajitas, and they’re a great ‘everyone’ meal. We can all have ours the way we want, and everyone is happy. I usually just pile mine on a salad, occasionally on a corn tortilla if I can find them at the grocery store. Kids usually pick out the meat and supplement with raw veggies. Hubs like them every way, but his favourite is probably wrapped like a burrito.

3. Maple Walnut Crusted Sheet Pan Halibut – Flavour and Savour
Confession: I don’t make fish often. I’m not confident in cooking it, which is silly because it’s really the same as making any other animal protein. I LOVE this recipe, however. It’s so easy to get ready, and it all cooks together which is awesome. The kids like it too because of the maple taste, and halibut doesn’t really have a ‘fishy’ flavour.
4. Autumn Sausage Veggie and Apple Sheet Pan Dinner – Cooking Classy
I’m a sucker for hash, which is really what this dish is. This is my favourite sheet pan dinner. Heaps of autumn veggies like squash and Brussels sprouts, yummy turkey sausage, and apples are all ah-mazing together. We eat this one at least once a month too.
5. Sheet Pan Maple Mustard Roasted Chicken – The Chunky Chef
Listen, I’ll eat most anything that comes with butternut squash and Brussels sprouts. Add in a maple mustard dressing and roasted in the oven with some yummy chicken thighs? 10/10 would make again. I’m actually making this for dinner tonight.
6. Sheet Pan Buddha Bowls – Yummy Mummy Kitchen
Sometimes you need a big bowl of veggies to satisfy you. This one definitely will. I swap out the cabbage for broccoli or cauliflower, and the potatoes for sweet potatoes. The dressing on top is really yummy too! This is a great dish to make and portion out for lunches, pair it with something like quinoa, a bean mix, or a poached egg for a complete protein.
These meals make eating healthy super fast. Most cook in under 30 minutes, all of which is hands-off time! If you prep your veggies ahead of time it will be even less work. What could be easier than preheating the oven and dumping everything on a sheet pan? You don’t even have to leave the house!
